Play Atlas with Madminers!

In addition to Minecraft, we also have an Atlas server.
Atlas is an online pirate survival game that includes gorgeous scenery and intense crafting and sailing features. The game is relatively "hardcore" compared to Minecraft and it's more challenging to stay alive. Here's what you need to know to get started:   First and foremost, know this is a TESTING environment. We are very much beginners when it comes to managing an Atlas server so there may be unexpected hiccups, server wipes or outages. Please be patient.   (Assuming you've already purchased and installed the game through Steam)

Finding Our Server

Method 1:

  • Once you've installed the game from Steam, launch it and at the main menu click Join Online Atlas
  • On the server list page, make sure that "Unofficial" is chosen in the Session Filter, and the "Show Password Protected" checkbox is checked.
  • In the Name Filter: Search box at the top of the screen, type our world name "Booty Bay". It should automatically come up and all the other servers in the list will disappear.
  • Next, click on the blue Booty Bay server name and click the Select Atlas World button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Then, click Freeport Cay and then the Join button.
  • The server is private, so it will ask you for a password. You'll need to ask your friend(s) for that.

Method 2:

  • Next, click on the blue Booty Bay server name and click the Select Atlas World button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Then, click Freeport Cay and then the Join button.
  • The server is private, so it will ask you for a password. You'll need to ask your friend(s) for that.

About Booty Bay

The map/world is currently a 4 x 4 region world. The regions are known as "shards" and each shard is a separate server.
You can travel "seamlessly" between regions. We say seamlessly because there is no logging out/in or loading screens, but there is actually a short loading time when you hit the boundary.

Some starting tips:

  • For a good starter guide, check out the official basics guide here.
  • MAP: You can view a handheld map and compass any time by typing "M". Hold your left mouse button to look closer at the map. Hold your right mouse button to look closer at the compass. Use your mouse wheel to rotate your compass.
  • Surviving in this game is brutal. The first things you'll need to do to survive is:
    • Punch trees and rocks to get wood & stone. Don't do it too much, it hurts you. Once you have enough you'll be able to make a rudementary axe and pick.
    • Collect berries and vegetables (and other plant materials) by hovering your cursor over a plant and typing "E"
    • Make a campfire so you can cook your meats.
    • When you have weapons start hunting for meat and fish. You need both to stay healthy. Your diet consists of meat, fish, fruit and veggies. You need all 4 to keep your nutrition balanced.
  • You access your inventory, crafting and character interfaces by typing the "I" key. You can also see a better map here by clicking "Atlas" at the top fo the page.
